Kevin Nelson was promoted to Therapy Center Manager in 2006. Kevin is a
certified, licensed occupational therapist (OT) within New Jersey. He
graduated with honors from Kean University, with a Bachelors of Science in
Occupational Therapy.
Kevin has been practicing with Trinitas Children’s Therapy Services for 8
years. During his time as a clinician Kevin has worked with children between
the ages of 3 months to 19 years old. Before earning his promotion at
Trinitas Kevin worked in the Summit, Bloomfield, Elizabeth, and Roselle
school districts, providing school-based OT services within self-contained
and inclusion preschools and general education classrooms for children
between the ages of 5 and 12. Kevin has also provided school-based OT
services for TCI (The Children’s Institute) in Verona, a school specializing
in neurological disorders such as PDD and autism.
In addition to his work at Trinitas Kevin also provides medically based OT
for 2 local hospitals on a contract basis, and early intervention OT
services for the past 7 years, during which he has provided direct services
and family education within the child’s natural home environment.
Kevin has attended numerous continuing education during his time as a
clinician, including becoming an authorized provider of The Listening
Program®, Therapeutic Listening®, and the Interactive Metronome®, and
completing his 4-week Certificate in Sensory Integration (SIPT). Kevin has
also attended several Autism courses, an 8-week pediatric manual handling
course, the M.O.R.E.® course, Handwriting Without Tears®, and The Alert
Program: How Does Your Engine Run?™.
Kevin has utilized his knowledge and experience to assist the community. He
has presented to parents and families, educators, directors, and
administrators of school districts and private schools, and the New Jersey
Education Association (NJEA) on topics such as early intervention, fine
motor and handwriting development, sensory diets, and sensory integration
development and strategies. Further, Kevin has organized and implemented
several successful pediatric programs such as karate, bowling, T-Ball, Yoga,
and Music Therapy.
One of Kevin’s many passions is teaching and he has used this passion while
serving on the faculty for the Early Education Department at Montclair State
University and the Occupational Therapy Departments of Kean University and
Seton Hall University.
Kevin continues to enjoy his current position at Trinitas Children’s Therapy
Services and looks forward to helping the practice continue to grow and be
successful.
